As we age changes in the connective tissue reduce the skin's strength and elasticity. Beyond plumping cheeks and filling wrinkles (traditional dermal fillers), cosmetic injectable treatments have evolved to achieve skin structural changes. Profhilo is a unique combination of hyaluronic acid (HA), injected just under the skin to stimulate and hydrate. Hyaluronic acid is a gooey substance that your body produces naturally. HA is found throughout the body, especially in eyes, joints and skin. Hyaluronic acid is very good at retaining water. That’s why it is used in moisturizing creams, and in dermal fillers.
Because of the way Profhilo is formulated in the lab, it does not volumize (plump) like other dermal fillers. After injection, it will spread, forming a very thin layer just under the skin where Profhilo delivers a dual action.
Profhilo is injected by a trained doctor or nurse into the skin with an ultrafine needle at specific points in the face or neck. The product then diffuses through the skin to bring a natural and lasting refreshed look. Profhilo requires two treatments done 4 weeks apart. If extra hydration is required a third session may be advised. To maintain results, top-up treatments are recommended every 6 or 12 months.
